Our Year 5 and 6's had fun making charcoal pencils out of willow this week at Forest School.  they cut them to size using secateurs, put them in a lidded metal tin and then they were placed straight into the fire for 10 minutes.  After a period of cooling off, we opened the lids and they were amazed that charcoal pencils were made! They then used them to create nature stencils or faces on trees!!
