Authorised visitors?

Hi there - another whole week of sunny weather and no school - can't be all bad!

However, one thing that most of us are missing is being able to visit and/or be visited by our friends and family. We wonder if you have had any very welcome and 'authorised' visitors that have come your way? By this we mean such visitors as the cheerful and chirpy pair of housemartins that have taken up their summer residence under Mrs Laurie's bedroom window, for example. They announced their arrival on Easter Saturday by spring cleaning their mud nest (left from last year) and covering her windowsill in feathers and dust!  They chatter to each other throughout the night. It sounds as if they are telling each other off for taking up too much room or perhaps snoring too loudly! Having said that, do birds snore?

Please tell us about any visitors, animal or human, that have cheered you up and/or perhaps brought something special to your home recently.

In the meantime, remember to try and help out as much as you can at home by offering to  do chores such as the dreaded washing up or unloading the dishwasher:)

Stay well and enjoy the weekend!

Hi Mrs L and Mrs B We have had some visitors at our door which keep on setting the ring doorbell off and we keep on thinking there is a person at our door. Robins have been eating the cat food. We have also had a lot of different cats at our door. They are a little bit picky. I have had way too many bumble bees buzzing above me and a vibrating bug just chilling on the roof above my sister. Hope you all have a great weekend. Me and my sister will probably go on the trampoline about 24 times again.

Our Dad had a wren nest on a car wheel of a car he's selling but he said he won't sell it yet. If you want know about the pheasant eggs they are doing WELL! We will be checking with a candler tomorrow to see if the chicks have started to grow. My little brother Noah has moved into my room.

Dear Mrs L and Mrs B, I have got some cute Pigeons right by my window nesting. They has been there for at least a month! They also have quite a big nest and I think they might come back next year. From Esme

Hi James Lovely to hear from you. Robins can be very cheeky and brave, can't they? Cats also have a tendency to go to wherever they think they might get the chance of a meal! There do appear to be a lot of bees around this year - perhaps it's because the weather has been so warm just recently and they are all making an appearance at once? Have fun on the trampoline and stay safe!

Hi Zachary, I've heard of robins nesting in post boxes but never on a steering wheel - how unusual! Perhaps you may get the chance to watch the nest (from a distance) and report back to us? We are really looking forward to hearing how your pheasant eggs/chicks are getting on after your candle check. Isn't nature amazing?! For once we are being given some time to be able to watch and appreciate it all. Have a lovely weekend.

Hi Esme, great to hear you have some pigeon visitors. Are there any squabs /chicks yet and are they noisy? By the way, Mrs Laurie has checked to find out if birds snore and it is understood that they do! Ask your parents for permission first to look on the internet. Mrs Laurie found videos of an adorable yellow parrot snoring and a humming bird coming out of dormancy/deep sleep with its long tongue hanging out from the end of its beak! The sound it makes is so cute! Have a lovely weekend.

Dear mrs L and Mrs B, Because we are in a temporary apartment we don't have a garden :( , but we go for a long walk each day. We have a list from the Times newspaper on our door that has birds and butterflys etc to look out for. We have done very well at ticking things off ... so far we have seen peacock butterfly, chiff chaff, bumble bee, brimstone butterfly, blackbird and a gnat. We are on the lookout for a kestral, swallow, pied wagtail and songthrush. I have just finished a chronological report for my Korean school, and was happy to see that that was the personal project for Fox class!! My report was about the Amazon River and the animals and plants that live there. Have a nice weekend. From Jake

Lovely to hear from you Jake. It is really tricky if you don't have a garden but you are clearly being very resourceful and looking for 'visitors' when you are out taking exercise. Good for you! It's great when you find out that you have done one thing that saves you doing another (report) . We are looking forward to you sharing your report and personal project about the Amazon River. What surprised you about it and what is your favourite animal or plant? We hope you and your family have a good weekend too - take care.
