Scorchio and World Bee Day!

Another beautiful morning Foxes!

It's World Bee Day so let's be aware of  (excuse the pun) and thankful for these amazing  creatures as we go about our lives today. Did you know that honey bees never sleep and that a queen bee can lay up to 2,000 eggs per day?! What other amazing facts do you know about these interesting insects?

Feelin’, hot, hot, hot! Mr Weatherman says that we could have temperatures as high as 26⁰C today, so please make sure you wear a hat, put on sun cream and drink lots of water.

Where is the hottest place that you have heard of or visited? How hot did it get and how did you keep yourself cool? What do you like to do when it’s hot?

    Hi Mrs L and Mrs B, the hottest place I've ever been is in Mallorca and we cooled down in the swimming pool. I have been to Egypt, but that was when I was in my mums tummy. I'm really exited for Sunday because that's my birthday! From Esme

    Good Morning Mrs L and Mrs B Do you know what honey bees are the only insect in the world that make for we can eat. Eating honey can make you smarter!! One bee will only make 1/12 of a teaspoon on honey in its whole life. A bee’s wings beat 190 times a second, that’s 11,400 times a minute! It would take 1,100 bees to make 1kg of honey and they would have to visit 4 million flowers that's just crazy.

    Good morning Fox Class, Isn't it funny we were woken up by Ela shouting 'there is a huge bumble bee in our house!' on World Bee Day :) (It really was ginormous!) I also wanted to thank James for the lemon drizzle cake, I started the week very happy at school, well done chef ;) Have a lovely day everyone.

    Hi everyone, this morning i got woken up by a buzzing sound and it was the biggest bee i have ever seen! it had flew into my bedroom so i ran away screaming and woke up my mum and dad we opened the back door and it flew out then i started watching tv but i forgot to close the door so i think the same one came back in again!     Morning Esme! A pool in Mallorca would be just the ticket for a day like today. Egypt is very warm too. Checking online, we understand that the average temperature in May (in Cairo) reaches a high of 32°C (that's about 90°F) during the day and at night only dips to a low of around 18°C (about 64°F). So, in reality England is only a little cooler than North Africa at the moment! You are sounding very excited about your birthday on Sunday - Birthdays are great!     Wow Oliver, you have found out some amazing facts! The fact that one bee only makes 1/2 teaspoon of honey in its whole life makes us realise just how many bees there are, especially if you like eating honey (on toast - yum!). When you start thinking about millions of flowers just for one jar, it does become very mind boggling! Have a lovely day, Oliver.

    Hi Ela, how apt that you had a bee encounter this morning! Bumble bees can grow up to 1.5 inches in length. That's nearly 40mm/4cm! We are pleased to hear that it went safely on its way. Have a great day.

    Hello everyone!!! I hope you are all enjoying the sun! 🌞 We have our paddling pool out so we have rescued over 10 bees from drowning. We have 3 trees in our garden that the bees love to go to so it is very cool that it is bee day today. Did you know that the average lifespan for a Western honey bee is 123 days! I am very exited for all the hot weather and I can’t wait until we can go on holiday or camping after isolation. The hottest place I have ever been to was probably Bulgaria 🇧🇬 when we went there for a wedding. Stay safe and remember to stay hydrated! From Bella

    Hi Isabella, lovely to hear from you today! Well done for rescuing some bees from your paddling pool. The trees sound like the ideal place for them to be instead. So bees do live for over a season (just over 17 weeks - 4 months or so). We agree, it will be lovely when we can all think of going on a holiday or camping - hopefully sometime soon! Perhaps you could share some of those wedding photos when we are all together? You stay safe too in the meantime,
