VE Day
Thursday 7th May 2020
Tomorrow it will be the 75 year anniversary of VE day. 8 May 1945 – VE (Victory in Europe) Day – was one that remained in the memory of all those who witnessed it. It meant an end to nearly six years of a war that had cost the lives of millions; had destroyed homes, families, and cities; and had brought huge suffering and privations to the populations of entire countries.
Millions of people rejoiced in the news that Germany had surrendered, relieved that the intense strain of total war was finally over. In towns and cities across the world, people marked the victory with street parties, dancing and singing.
How will your family celebrate VE day? Will you have a party?
I couldn't imagine what it would have been like growing up and living in wartime. The people who lived, fought and survived during this time overcame so much! Because of this I want to know when was a time that you achieved something new? When was a time you had to be brave? When was a time you overcame something you found difficult?
Have a good day,
Missing you all
Mr Ralph.
